Featured For GourmetsSome people will celebrate the first day of summer with barbecues ... others will celebrate it with a six-course tasting menu featuring pairings from Cakebread Cellars Wine at the Peacock Inn. You're invited, too, to this special meal on Tuesday, June 21. A representative will be on hand to discuss Cakebread's history and the reasons for each pairing. Each course expertly prepared by chef Manuel Perez promises to be delicious: passed hors d'oeuvres during the a pre-meal reception (Sauvignon Blanc), heirloom tomato tart (Chardonnay), pan seared scallop and crispy pork belly (Chardonnay Reserve), Maine lobster and corn pudding (Pinot Noir), duck breast (Cabernet Sauvignon), seared filet of beef with wild mushroom strudel (Cabernet), and of course chocolate (Far Niente Dolce). At just $135 per person, it's one of the best deals on meals in town. Wines will also be available for purchase.
