Want an excuse not to shave for the next six weeks? Here it is: the Alchemist & Barrister's 32nd annual long beard contest begins today, with final judging on St. Patrick's Day. All you have to do is report to the A&B between today and Friday, clean-shaven, and register with a $25 donation. Let your beard grow. Then come back on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, and see if you've out-grown your competitors. Proceeds from the contest benefit Derek DiGregorio, who suffers from a rare genetic disorder, Ataxia Telangiectasia, and is raising money to help find a cure.
